Process set up, Collabrative process and Implementation and evaluation

Rationale: 

Understanding the cycle of activities and the allocation of responsibilities at each stage in the consultant process is crucial for good collaboration and for achieving project goals. An effective consultant is able to use the right skills for the right stage in the consultant process.

Collaborative processes of discovery and feedback are essential in consulting situations in order to maximise engagement, commitment and to help facilitate change.

The consulting process needs to work towards equipping the client to carry forward the project independently. At the same time, the consultant is equipped to support implementation and evaluate the success of the implemented changes.

Assessment Criteria: 

Is able to set up an effective consulting process.

Is able to facilitate collaborative processes of discovery, feedback and mapping the way forward while consulting.

Is able to support the implementation and evaluation processes.

Growth Activities

The following activities have been identified to achieve comptency in Consulting Process Skills in levels from Learner to Expert.

Has Knowledge: 

Read basic materials on the importance and principles of setting up a consulting process.

Read basic materials on application of contracting principles. Discuss with mentor a case in which she allows you to observe or participate.

Read basic materials on collaborative discovery and feedback. Discuss with mentor a case in which she allows you to observe or participate.

Read basic materials on implementation and evaluation. Discuss with mentor a case in which she allows you to observe or participate.

Discuss with your mentor different tools to monitor progress

With Assistance: 

Represent organization in establishing collaborative relationships and setting up a consulting process.

Explain to mentor the different phases of consulting.

Discuss with mentor a case in which she allows you to observe or participate.

Represent organization in applying contracting principles.

Represent organization in collaborative processes of discovery and feedback.

Represent organization in implementation and evaluation. Ask your mentor to give you feedback on your written reporting. Identify 1-2 areas of growth.

Independent: 

Work alongside mentee guiding him in how to represent organization in applying contracting principles.

Guide mentee in understanding the different phases of consulting. Discuss with mentee a case which you permit him to observe or participate in.

Work alongside mentee guiding him in how to represent organization in discovery and feedback.

Work alongside mentee guiding him in how to represent organization in implementation and evaluation.

 

Proficient: 

Guide organisations in creating strategy for developing consultants.

Help organisations train personnel to apply contracting principles.

Help organisations train personnel to apply collaborative processes of discovery and feedback

Help organisations train personnel to work toward implementation and evaluation.
