Recording Tools

Knowledge of current tools for recording audio and/or video.

Rationale: 

In recent years, audio and video have become an integral part of each domain that we teach. As a result, it is increasingly important that a Language Technologists be able to identify quality recordings and proper recording techniques.

Assessment Criteria: 

Is able to use the tools that assist language workers to record their work, either audio and/or video and is able to consult others on their use.

Growth Activities

The following activities have been identified to achieve comptency in Recording Tools in levels from Learner to Expert.

Has Knowledge: 

Listen to various audio recordings to identify various audio problems (low volume, clipping, noise, low quality, etc). Try to figure out how they could have been improved.

Watch various video recordings to identify various video problems (framing, lighting, zoom, reflections, etc.). Try to figure out how they could have been improved.

With Assistance: 

Can use audio software to produce optimal audio recording with minimal noise.

Can use video software to produce an high quality video recording.

Independent: 

Learn the tools and techniques to make clean audio recordings and improve quality of existing recordings.

Learn the tools and techniques to make and edit quality video recordings.

Proficient: 

Train someone to use audio software to produce quality audio recordings.

Train someone to use video software to make and edit quality video recordings.
