The PrimerPrep program is designed to help you:

  • analyze texts in a language to discover the words and letters used in the language, and how frequently they occur
  • specify what to analyze, by selecting which words to analyze, how to count them, and how to break them apart (with affixes)

Bloom

Learning to read takes books. Learning to read well, and developing a love of reading, takes lots of books.  Books at all different skill levels. But how are low-literacy language communities ever to get all those books in their language?  They can do it with Bloom.

Bloom uses collections of "shell books" that come with multiple source languages. Read the ones you understand, type in a translation in your language, and you're done!

SynPhony Community Edition

Synphony Community Edition is public domain software that assists in sequencing literacy training using intelligent analysis of wordlists in any language. SynPhony CE provides a user-friendly interface to help literacy teachers find teachable words to present to learners based on the letters that students already know. 

PrimerPro

The purpose of PrimerPro is to assist the literacy worker in the development of primers for a given language. The application performs these functions (and more):

  • It can suggest a teaching order of the graphemes based upon a word list or text data, using an algorithm which calculates their productivity.

  • It supports alphabets that contains consonants, vowels, tones and/or syllographs.

  • It can give a list of words containing any given grapheme from the word list or text data.

  • It can track "graphemes taught" ongoingly.

Art Of Reading

A collection of over 10,000 images from SIL and national artists around the world. These black and white line drawings are suitable for use in a wide variety of literacy materials, newsletters, bulletin board displays, and other cultural awareness materials. They are indexed by country, author, keywords, and other categories.

PDF Booklet

PDF Booklet opens a PDF file and creates a new one that can be printed as a booklet.  It has many functions for manipulating the pages of a PDF file.  PDF Booklet can scale the pages so that they can be printed on a different page size. You can adjust the margins, add blank pages and print multiple booklets in one run.

Build literacy game apps for Android devices. Apps do not require an Internet connection for play.

Most language development teams prepare the build files and forward them to the author for app creation. Collaboration occurs in a Google Drive. Language teams fill out a Google Sheets template with eight tabs (one for each data file required by the app).
