  • Interlinear Text Formatter - outmoded

    SUMMARY:  Interlinear Text Formatter

DETAILS:  ITF (Interlinear Text Formatter) is a set of TeX macros for typesetting interlinear texts. These macros can format an arbitrary number of aligning annotations with up to two freeform annotations. Programs are provided with the ITF package for converting output from IT or AMPLE into the format required by ITF. The ITF TeX macros can be used with either TeX 2....

  • RTF2SFM

RTF2SFM converts a styled Word .RTF file to UTF8-encoded SFM. Unlike the old SF Converter package, RTF2SFM correctly handles Unicode characters.

RTF2SFM is part of the SIL::RTF Perl module that provides an event-driven parser for examining or processing RTF files. The program is supplied either as a Perl module (requiring Perl 5.8 or later) or as a standalone Windows .EXE file.

  • RALPH

Produces a reverse sorted word list (that is, words are sorted alphabetically beginning with their last letter instead of according to their first letter).

  • PC-PARSE

PC-PARSE is an archive which contains a set of programs for performing morphological or syntactic analysis. PC-PARSE includes code for

  • PC-KIMMO

PC-KIMMO is a new implementation for microcomputers of a program dubbed KIMMO after its inventor Kimmo Koskenniemi (see Koskenniemi 1983). It is of interest to computational linguists, descriptive linguists, and those developing natural language processing systems. The program is designed to generate (produce) and/or recognize (parse) words using a two-level model of word structure in which a word is represented as a correspondence between its lexical level form and its surface level form.

  • Ktagger

    A part-of-speech tagger based on PC-KIMMO.

  • PcPatr Browser

    PcPatr Browser

This tool makes it much easier to see the results of syntactic parses produced by the PC-PATR program (http://www.sil.org/pcpatr/).  For each sentence, it shows the interlinear result and the syntactic tree.  When one clicks on a node in the tree, it also shows the features at that node and the rule in the PC-PATR grammar file.

It is a .Net version 2.0 program so it requires a Windows operating system that has .Net version 2.0 or higher installed on it.

  • MacSHAPA

MacSHAPA is a Macintosh-based software tool for performing video analysis and for applying a range of sequential data analysis techniques to the results. It is distributed free of charge to interested researchers.  MacSHAPA is no longer directly supported. However, some questions can be answered by members of the original development team. Contact psanderson@itee.uq.edu.au in the first instance.

  • AMPLE

SUMMARY:  A morphological parser for linguistic exploration

DETAILS:  When given the necessary information about the morphology of a language, AMPLE will analyze each word in a text and break it into morphemes. AMPLE is oriented to the "item and arrangement" approach to the description of morphological phenomena. It can handle nonconcatenative phenomena only indirectly. AMPLE works together with STAMP (OPAC 15) for Computer-Assisted Related Language Adaptation (CARLA). It can...

  • Ktext

KTEXT reads a text from a disk file, parses each word using the PC-KIMMO parser, and writes the results to a new disk file. This new file is in the form of a structured text file where each word of the original text is represented as a database record composed of several fields. Each word record contains a field for the original word, a field for the underlying or lexical form of the word, and a field for the gloss string.
