WordSend is a software project that allows you to convert Scripture files from Unicode USFM (and eventually from selected other formats) to other formats for the purpose of publishing those Scriptures in various print or electronic formats. Currently, the most useful transformation is the conversion of Unicode USFM to Microsoft Word 2003 (or later) XML documents (WordML) for the purpose of typesetting or printing for village checking. It is...

  • Vocabulary Manager

Vocabulary Manager is a multimedia vocabulary learning tool, like an electronic flash card system with audio. VM allows you to create a database of vocabulary items with an image and two audio recordings (one for a 'citation' form and one for the 'in context' form) for each item. As you build the database, you can practice the words, and test yourself in terms of comprehension, production, and spelling. When you want to share the database and audio and picture files, the program will package it up for easy sharing. The new users can then easily modify the database to meet...

  • RegExPal

RegExPal is a utility that works alongside of ParaTExt to do powerful search and replace on scripture text.

    • It lets you see your "find" go to work as you build it (it's dynamic).
    • It let's you see problems with your expression while you are typing it letting you know by a blue highlighter when it is invalid or not yet complete (because more of the expression is required).
    • When you do a replace you get to see a before and after view of the "replace" (one at a time) so you can see if it is working the way you want it to.
  • TonePars

The TonePars program augments the AMPLE morphological parser program to allow for modeling an autosegmental approach to tone.

  • STAMP

SUMMARY:  Morphological transfer and synthesis for adapting text to a related language

DETAILS:  STAMP works with AMPLE (OPAC 12) to adapt text from one language to another (closely) related language, a process known as "Computer-Assisted Related Language Adaptation" (CARLA). STAMP provides morphological transfer and synthesis for words analyzed by AMPLE. The result is, at best, a rough draft suitable for editing by a competent speaker of the target language.

Programs are provided with the ITF package for converting output from IT or AMPLE into the format required by ITF. The ITF TeX macros can be used with either TeX 2....

  • AMPLE

SUMMARY:  A morphological parser for linguistic exploration

DETAILS:  When given the necessary information about the morphology of a language, AMPLE will analyze each word in a text and break it into morphemes. AMPLE is oriented to the "item and arrangement" approach to the description of morphological phenomena. It can handle nonconcatenative phenomena only indirectly. AMPLE works together with STAMP (OPAC 15) for Computer-Assisted Related Language Adaptation (CARLA). It can...
